Historic fishing village on the south side of the island, with a 1740 church (Nossa Senhora da Conceição), active fishing fleet and access to Lagoa do Peri.
Armação is one of the oldest colonial settlements in Florianópolis: the 1740 Igreja Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Armação remains active and gives the central beach its name. Fishing boats unload fresh catch on the sand at dawn, supplying neighborhood fish shops and restaurants. Lagoa do Peri, the island's main freshwater reserve, is minutes away by secondary road and offers trails and a waterfall. Housing preserves single-storey homes and low-rise sobrados; lots near the church carry heritage value.
