How Florianópolis connects to the world: the international airport and the flights that bring the buyer closer

An airport growing faster than the city

Since 2017, the Hercílio Luz airport (FLN) has operated under a concession held by Zurich Airport (Floripa Airport), which opened a new terminal in 2019. Growth has been remarkable: from around 3.97 million passengers in 2023 to 4.9 million in 2024 and more than 5.18 million in 2025, the busiest year in its history. The international jump is even sharper: it topped 900,000 international passengers in 2024 and reached 1.2 million in 2025 (+32%). With that figure, Florianópolis is Brazil's third airport for international traffic, behind only Guarulhos (São Paulo) and Galeão (Rio). The routes: South America year-round, Europe one flight away

For the 2025/2026 summer, the airport announced the largest international network in its history. The year-round routes are the backbone for anyone who owns a home used outside the high season:

• Buenos Aires (Aeroparque and Ezeiza) — the largest international market, with several airlines.
• Santiago de Chile — one of FLN's three largest markets.
• Panama City — Copa Airlines, since June 2024; connecting through its hub to dozens of destinations in North America and the Caribbean.
• Lisbon — TAP Air Portugal, direct since September 2024 (with a fourth weekly frequency planned from July 2026); the gateway to all of Europe with a single connection.

In season, seasonal add-ons come into play (Córdoba, Rosario, Montevideo, Asunción, among others), and the airport projects up to 64 international flights in a single day. An honest note: there is no direct flight to the United States or to Europe beyond Lisbon; access to those markets is via one connection (Panama or Lisbon). And some seasonal routes change from one season to the next — it is best to confirm availability when planning.

Why it matters to the foreign buyer

Connectivity is not a tourist detail: it defines how easy it is to reach your property. A European or a North American can reach their home in Florianópolis with, at most, one layover. The year-round routes — not just the summer charters — signal durable accessibility, the kind that matters for a second home used in any season. And the operator invests ahead of demand (an expansion of the international area announced for 2026), a sign that the connection to the world is deepening, not stalling.
